Useful resources: Adapted 19th century literature


Draper, C.G. (2006). All American stories. White Plains, NY: Longman.
    Each adapted story is followed by further activities, such as comprehension questions,

vocabulary exercises, discussion questions, and writing practice. Adaptations of        

nineteenth century stories include “A Cub-Pilot’s Education” by Mark Twain, “The Lady or the Tiger” by Frank Stockton, and “ The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe.
